Meticulous Post Production
With more than 35 years of experience working with architects, interior designers, home builders, lighting designers, and other related industries, we bring a wealth of expertise to make your projects really stand out.
Artful use of a combination of natural and added lighting brings life and dimension to our photography, creating beautifully composed, crisp images. Live view equipment lets you see exactly what is being captured and gives you the opportunity to art direct each shot.
Clients value our work for our professional attitude, collaborative approach, humour, and unbridled passion for what we do. I’m regularly asked about the post-production component of the work we do on our images and to clarify in detail. This set of images shows you the impact that taking the deserved time brings out in the RAW files we shoot. We start with a bracketed exposure to retain all the information from the shadows to highlights. Working with a set of up to seven images per single final frame, these are imported into Lightroom software for the initial changes, then transferred to HDR processing software where the modifications begin. They are then imported back into Lightroom, then out to Photoshop, where the detailed changes and refinement take place using AI when appropriate. Images are worked on by two experts, each adding their own level of detailed attention. The images are passed back and forth until we are happy with them and only then shared with you for your comments, input and change requests. Yes, it does sometimes take two hours to complete one image, but that’s the exception rather than the rule.
The Stages of Our Post-Production Process
-
We blend multiple exposures to create a final image with optimal detail in both highlights and shadows, ensuring a natural yet dynamic look.
-
We carefully balance indoor and outdoor lighting by layering exposures, allowing for clear and natural-looking window views.
-
We refine specific brightness levels within the image to enhance contrast, depth, and overall balance without over-processing.
-
We correct distortions caused by wide-angle lenses, ensuring that vertical and horizontal lines appear straight and true to life.
-
We fine-tune these elements to create crisp, vibrant, and well-balanced images that capture every detail.
-
We make precise tonal adjustments to enhance depth, richness, and overall image consistency.
-
We ensure accurate color representation by correcting for any unwanted color tints, resulting in true-to-life hues.
-
We balance the light and dark areas of the image, ensuring important details are visible without losing the natural feel.
-
Removal of Distracting Reflections: We eliminate unwanted glare and reflections on glass, metal, and polished surfaces for a clean, professional finish.
Removal of Distracting Objects: We edit out unwanted elements, such as wires, signage, or debris, to maintain a clean and polished composition.
Color Cast Correction: We adjust for unwanted color shifts caused by artificial lighting, ensuring neutral and natural tones.
Sky Replacement: We enhance exterior shots by replacing dull or overcast skies with vibrant, realistic skies that suit the lighting of the scene.
Using Artificial Intelligence to Add Missing Elements: When needed, we use AI-powered tools to subtly reconstruct missing details or enhance architectural features while maintaining a natural look.
